The
Living Room
- 14 June 1998
at Whincop and Son Ltd,(now run by Fresh and Wild)
32 Stoke Newington Church St.
London N16.
from dawn till dusk, kaffe matthews converting the empty Whincop's
shop into a resonant rest room.
here you would have found her live sampling sound from the street,
digitally reprocessing it into layers of softly shifting textures
and granulated patterns, to which she occasionally mashed her wired
up violin. with comfy furniture, tea+cake being served, and interactive
boxes visitors could open to hear music she had made earlier, it was
a space for pause:
the living room was a commission from the Stoke Newington Midsummer
Festival.
