Since 1994, Kaffe has been making a growing body of composed works, both solo and collaborative, with a variety of people, things and processes.

RADIO CYCLE 101.4FM . July 14th - 21st 2003
(a public art work commissioned by Interference, extracts now available on cd and 10mp3's to download for cycling, call us.
Annette Works transformed into a round the clock live radio station, broadcasting musics, stories, plays, writings, beliefs, ideas, and open discussion from local residents invited in from the street.
Drawing parallels between Marconi's early wireless experiments and today’s advanced communication technologies, RADIO CYCLE also ran free workshops[broadcast live] for people to learn to make their own material for broadcast as well as map pieces for the streets and the teams of radio carrying cyclists. Produced by Ilze Black.

The Living Room - 14 June 1998
at Whincop and Son Ltd,(now run by Fresh and Wild)
32 Stoke Newington Church St.
London N16.

from dawn till dusk, kaffe matthews converting the empty Whincop's shop into a resonant rest room.

here you would have found her live sampling sound from the street, digitally reprocessing it into layers of softly shifting textures and granulated patterns, to which she occasionally mashed her wired up violin. with comfy furniture, tea+cake being served, and interactive boxes visitors could open to hear music she had made earlier, it was a space for pause:

the living room was a commission from the Stoke Newington Midsummer Festival.
