vigilare - by riz maslen and kaffe matthews vigilare; to keep watch [ came origianally from the indo-european base *wog-, *weg-, ' be lively or active, ' which also produced English vigour, wake and watch. ] vigilare has looked at a public space to reveal the personal and private spaces we think we find within them. how often are you watched each day? cctv footage was sourced from ryelands estate , manchester and shaped and moulded by matthews and maslen along with a heap of sonic improvisations at annette works , London, september 2001. from a harsh impersonal, still a hidden chest of life and humour was revealed.
